Dr. Melder attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX. After graduating, Dr. Melder completed a surgical internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX, and then completed his Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Melder later became Chief, Otolaryngology at Walter Reed. Dr. Melder served on active duty for 13 years and left active duty to pursue a private practice career.
He later obtained additional board certification in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Melder is a serial entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur he has invented, developed, marketed and sold products and has successfully raised millions of dollars in the process. He has consulted with and licensed medical device technologies to top-tier medical device companies.
