After completing his undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he worked as a program assistant and teacher for a small, private school for the liberal arts, teaching English grammar and composition. It was during his tenure there that he discovered an interest in medicine.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, reading thought-provoking literature, engaging in good conversation, and playing the occasional board game. He is an outdoor enthusiast who would prefer paddling a canoe into the wilderness, but can certainly appreciate a nice leisurely stroll through the woods.
